Riskrunner Catalyst in 2023
Riskrunner is an Exotic Arc Energy Submachine Gun that does a lot of damage. If you want to make smooth Arc build, Riskrunner Catalyst should be the first weapon in your list.
The weapon is about to become more popular because of the changes coming to Arc this season.
Today, I’m going to talk about the stats and benefits of Riskrunner Catalyst and how a new and experienced player can get it.
The Ways to Get Riskrunner Catalyst

If you’ve played Destiny 2 for a while, you probably have Riskrunner. You may already have it in your vault.
Okay, don’t you have it? Or you are a new player who just started playing the game. Here’s how to get it.
Beginners Guide to Riskrunner Catalyst
If you’re new to Riskrunner, you’re in luck because “A Spark of Hope,” an early quest, is easy.
Upon starting Destiny, you meet Shaw Han, a Hunter living in the Cosmodrome, and do some quests with him.
This was the first quest added to Destiny 2 a few years ago. Its purpose is to teach new players how to use weapons, move around, use abilities, and collect loot.
You’ll do bounties, Lost Sectors, Strikes, and meet all the vendors.
Beginners Guide to Complete “A Spark of Hope” Quest Step by Step

To get the Riskrunner Catalyst, simply complete the mission called A Spark of Hope. Upon completing the quest, players will earn the weapon and catalyst without needing to replay it. There are eight parts to the quest.
The First Step
You’ll need to complete the new version of the New Light quest if you still need to do so. After that, A Spark of Hope will be available. In the Tower, players need to speak with Commander Zavala.
The Second Step
The player has been ordered to talk to Ikora Rey by Commander Zavala. Luckily, Ikora’s in the same Tower, so this part should be relatively easy.
The Third Step
As soon as the player speaks to Ikora, they’ll be sent to Devrim Kay. The European Dead Zone is still where Devrim is. He’ll be on the top floor near the landing of the church.
The Fourth Step
Lastly, the player has to kill something rather than talk to someone. There are three Lost Sectors around the church that players need to clear out for Turnabout:
- The widow’s walk
- The atrium
- The East Terminus
They’re all filled with the Fallen. Once the player kills the Fallen Captains guarding them and reclaims their fragments, this part will be complete.
The Fifth Step
After the player kills the last Fallen Captain and clears out the Lost Sectors, it’s time to go back to Devrim. Next, he’ll direct the player to the most fun part of the quest.
The Sixth Step
The player has to complete the Risk/Reward mission in the Cosmodrome. It’s simple, but the Chasm section can be annoying. The player needs to find the Arc Conductor once they’ve crossed. As a reward, they’ll get the Riskrunner weapon and the Riskrunner catalyst.
After that, the player can test chain lightning on the fallen nests. You’ll find out later that destroying these nests is worth it.
The Seventh Step
Players must return to the Tower and talk to Commander Zavala to finish the quest.
The Eighth Step
Upon speaking with Commander Zavala, he’ll congratulate you, and you’ll be able to check your inventory for the weapon you’ve been looking for.
Old Players Guide to Riskrunner Catalyst
You can get Riskrunner in some different ways. New players can do the New Light or Spark of Hope quest to get Riskrunner.
After Beyond Light came out in November 2020, Risk Runner is usually the first rare card you get.
If you have not done it yet, you can complete the New Light quest on another character in your account and switch Riskrunner to your main account.

Alternatively, you can get Riskrunner from Xur. If you can find him, you can take his Exotic Engram and use it to buy an exotic weapon you still need.
Buying that Exotic Engram from Xur is an easy way to get Riskrunner. But keep in mind that the materials for Exotic Engrams cost a lot.
You can also get Exotic Engram drops during Nightfall.
Old Players Guide to Complete “A Spark of Hope” Quest
Use the starting quests from Shaw Han, Zavala, and Company to start your journey.
When you play The Vendetta mission, you’ll get a Super Conductor, and Ghost will tell you that the Vanguard plans to make this into a weapon.
Finish the required missions until you win The Disgraced Strike, and then talk to Zavala. He will tell you to talk to Ikora Rey in the Tower Bazaar. She will give you the “A Spark of Hope” quest.
A Spark of Hope
As soon as you get the mission from Ikora Rey, you can go to the EDZ.
Open your menu, click on “Director,” and then click on “EDZ,” then “Trostland.” It’s a place for ships to dock.
The most important Guardian in the EDZ is Devrim Kay. Ikora wants you to talk to him.
When you got to Trostland, you could go into the church and climb the tower to find Devrim watching out the window with his rifle.
New Mission
You’ve got a mission: clean up the Lost Sectors in the Atrium, Terminus East, and Widow’s Walk.
You have the good luck that all three of these Lost Sectors are close to each other.
Places in the Lost Sector are marked on the walls with an icon. These areas are mostly hidden, but you can find them by looking for holes in the walls or ground nearby.
If you look at your map, you should be able to put your cursor over the Lost Sector icon and see the name of that sector.
Final Step
To finish this quest, you must finish the Lost Sectors by killing the bosses there and taking what’s in their chests.
Once you’re done, go back to Devrim Kay to get your next risk/reward task. This quest is in the Cosmodrome, and you must kill Dusk Captains to finish it.
What is Riskrunner?
Riskrunner is one of the most popular Destiny 2 weapons. It came out with the game in 2017.
The Short-Action Stock, Arc Conductor, Arrowhead Brake, Extended Mag, and Superconductor Chain make Riskrunner great for Arc builds.
I will explain each of them shortly. When a Guardian takes arc damage, Riskrunner makes them do more damage and starts a chain lightning attack.
Because it’s been around for a while, the way to get it has changed a lot, so many guides need to be updated.
The Riskrunner submachine gun is fun to use. A player who takes Arc damage this weapon can also light up a chain of enemies with the Arc Conductor perk.
It can be set off by a well-placed (or badly-placed) Arc Grenade.
Can a player get Riskrunner Catalyst on their own?
The player will get the Riskrunner Catalyst on their own if they are determined to get the Riskrunner. It’s a long, complicated questline with many moving parts players still need to do. For a good start, players need to know about the Riskrunner Catalyst.
The Riskrunner is a fun weapon to use in battle because it can fire chain lightning.
Another thing that makes this gun interesting is how to get the Riskrunner Catalyst.
When you get the gun, the Riskrunner Catalyst comes along with it. Give the stats so that players can see how powerful this weapon is.
This guide is updated with the best way to use the Riskrunner Catalyst. Players should still get and use this weapon for casual farming. Though, they have a better weapon for PVP or PVE.
Use of Riskrunner Catalyst
Riskrunner Catalyst contributes to the unique characteristics of the submachine gun in one way. The range of the weapon goes up by 27.
Because it has a longer range than most submachine guns, you can use the Riskrunner in more situations. At least for the Catalyst, the gun that comes with the Riskrunner Catalyst is a nice extra.
Weapon Stats and Other Specialities of Riskrunner Catalyst
The attack power of Riskrunner is from 10 to 650. We use Primary ammo for the weapon. The weapon’s impact is 20. The range is 55 (before using Riskrunner Catalyst), 60 stability, the handling of 51 with reload speed of 42, RPM (Rounds per Minute) 900, and magazine size 41.
The weapon also features a zoom of up to 13, aim assistance of 50, recoil direction of 94, and automatic fire mode. It’s a tier 6 weapon.

Upgrades of Riskrunner
We’ll now go through Riskrunner’s peaks. Riskrunner can be enhanced with the following benefits:

Arc Conductor
When this weapon takes Arc Damage, it gets powerful and resists incoming arc damage. The longer you stay in this overcharged state, the longer it lasts.

Arrowhead Brake
Barrel is lightly vented. Recoil is greatly reduced. Boosts handling speed.

Extended Mag
It has a bigger magazine, but it reloads much slower. Magazine size goes up a lot. Slows down reloading.

Superconductor Chain
Shots fired can become chain lightning and return ammo when Arc Conductor is active.

Short-Action Stock
I love how easy it is to grip this weapon. Increases handling speed by a lot.

Default Ornament
Brings your weapon back to its default look.

Summer Storm
Riskrunner’s appearance can be changed with this Weapon Ornament.
Level up your Riskrunner Catalyst

During the A Spark of Hope quest, killing the Fallen nests was worth it because it gave you an upgrade. You need two things to be able to improve the Riskrunner Catalyst:
- With Riskrunner, you’ll get 300 regular kills.
- You can kill up to 300 people with the Superconductor chain lightning attack.
The Nests of the Fallen are filled with enemies, so 600 kills. Lightning kills are good there if you can string them together. Players should farm in PVE areas with Arc damage enemies if that’s the case.
Some Suggestions on Riskrunner Catalyst

A fun gun gets even more ridiculous with the Riskrunner Catalyst. In PVE, this weapon can fry whole groups of ads with chain lightning. Players should try to hurt themselves on purpose to get the most out of their Arc grenade.
PVP can also be difficult if the enemy has an Arc weapon. The true power of this weapon becomes clear when you turn on the perk, and the player takes less damage from Arc.
The catch is that enemies must be in a group to do damage, which only happens if the players know what they’re doing.
