Hogwarts Legacy has a nice variety of potions that can be used in battle to do amazing things. Let’s look at each of the game’s six potions and three fighting plants since they all belong to the same group. We’ll look at how to make potions, and tips on gathering ingredients to make them. Also, learn about the awesome potion upgrades you can unlock through the skill tree before deciding which ones are better. After reading this, you can decide which ones are the best potion Hogwarts Legacy.
9. Invisibility Potion
We have the potion that makes us invisible. At first, I didn’t understand why this potion was in the game when we already had the spell to make people invisible. The spell makes us invisible for a long time and hides us as long as we don’t walk up to people.

On the other hand, the potion only works for five seconds before it stops working. This is like a smoke bomb grenade for wizards. It can be used in battle to make yourself disappear and get away without being followed.

You can also use Talent points to make it better. Your invisibility duration will increase from 5 seconds to 10, which is a good upgrade. But the least creative upgrade compared to other potions.
We all know about the Peruvian instant Darkness powder. It’s the powder that Harry uses in Half-Blood Prince. This powder is a well-known smoke bomb in the Wizarding World. Because it would do the same thing here.
I wish they had done that instead of making you invisible twice, but with a worse result than the spell.
How to make Invisibility Potion in Hogwarts Legacy
There are two ways to make Invisibility Potion in Hogwarts Legacy:
In Hogwarts Legacy, there are two ways to make an invisibility brew:
1. Buy the recipe for 800 Galleons from J. Pippin’s Potions in Hogsmeade.
2. Go to the Room of Requirement and find the recipe. You will need to find the Room of Requirement before doing this. Once you’ve found the room, you must do something with the Celestial Globe in the middle. This will show a secret passageway. Eventually, if you follow the tunnel, you’ll get to a room with a cauldron and a bookshelf. The recipe for the Invisibility Potion is on the Bookshelf.

Once you have the recipe, you will need the following:
- Leaping Toadstool Caps
- Knotgrass Sprig
- Troll Bogeys
In the Forbidden Forest, you can find Leaping Toadstool Caps. In the Hogsmeade Woods, you can find Knotgrass Sprigs. The Shrieking Shack is where you can find Troll Bogeys.
Once you have all the items, you can make the Invisibility Potion at any Potions Station. Just put the items in the cauldron and do what the directions say.
Once the liquid is ready, you can drink it to become invisible. It will only make you invisible for a short time. You can sneak past enemies or get a better look at your surroundings during this time.
Tips on gathering ingredients for Invisibility Potion Hogwarts Legacy
To make an invisibility potion, we need troll bogeys, one of the hardest things for audiences to get. Trolls are one of the fewest enemies in the game, as they should be. Even though each one drops more than one birdie, you still need to find them, especially early on. That’s when you’ll need the invisibility potion the most to get out of the fight.

Instead, you can buy troll bogeys from J. Pippin’s potions, which is hilarious. Still, you’ll have to pay 100 galleons for each one, which is a lot of money early in the game.

Let’s say you want to buy the potions. In that case, they are too expensive at $500 each and can only make you invisible for 100 gallons per second before you have to upgrade. Don’t forget that disillusionment is free and does a better job.
Still, in one case, the stop caps for the jumping toads are all over the Forbidden Forest. The knotgrass is easy to grow because those are the three things you need to mix to make this trick potion.

8. Chinese Chomping Cabbage
Chinese Chomping Cabbage is not a potion. Instead, they are one of three plants that share the same tool wheel. Since they need to be grown, a whole step is cut out of the process of getting them.

Then adding fertilizer to your pots will effectively double your yield from one to two. It’s important to know that Dogweed and Deathcap in Hogsmeade sell the seeds for all three plants.

The chomping cabbages are basically small support minions that annoy enemies and do a fair amount of damage to them at each level. They are a good way to get people’s attention away from fighting.

But sadly, they can’t break through Shields. You can’t tell them who to attack, which can be annoying. Still, if you improve with Talent Points, you can at least get the ability to throw two for the price of one. That’s twice as many delays and twice as much damage, which is a good deal.
It can make those battles with too many enemies go more quickly and smoothly. There’s also a big way to make all plants take more damage. I have mentioned the tips below, as all plants share the same.
7. Venomous Tentacula
The Venomous Tentacula works like a Wizard’s Sentry turret, shooting poison balls at enemies and making your life easier. You have to grow them in big pots.

We know why it’s not the fastest gun in the world, but if we send out several of them at the start of a fight, we can quickly take out an enemy camp.

I would strongly suggest that you upgrade them. But it lets them shoot their poison further and, most importantly, break through Shields. Yes, this skill makes them better than the Chomping Cabbages.

Even though improved Tentacular does the same amount of damage, they won’t waste their shots on enemies with shields.
Fairness, though, if you’re facing trolls or fairies who don’t have shields. A better choice might be upgraded cabbages. I have mentioned the tips below, as all plants share the same.
6. Mandrake
Mandrakes, which are the best plant, work like a stun gun. During the battle, you can stun enemies and those nearby for about 4 seconds and do a small amount of damage.

This helps, especially when things are going wrong, and you need everyone to calm down. It’s a great chance to heal or hit back with a bunch of moves that won’t be blocked.
Another strong thing about the Mandrake is that it is the only thing that can stop a Graphorn in its tracks. You can make them even turn over. So, this is the best thing to have on your menu if you want to fight the Lord of the Shore or catch Graphorns.

Also, getting the Mandrake talent in the room of the requirement tree gives you double damage and a length of eight seconds instead of four. But in terms of Talent points, this isn’t a top goal for how you’ll soon look at others.
You will know how to get Mandrake, with our easy step-by-step guid
5. Focus Potion
Concentrate and clear your mind with a Focus potion. Because if you do that, the time it takes for your magic to recharge will decrease. The Focus potion lasts 15 seconds and can cut the time it takes for your skills to recharge by a factor of four. So if it took 80 seconds for Avada Kedavra to recover before, it would only take 20 seconds now. Not quite spam able still, but more easily available.

How to make Focus Potion in Hogwarts Legacy
Here are the Hogwarts Legacy Focus Potion preparation steps:

- Gather the ingredients. You will require the following ingredients to create a Focus Potion:
- Lacewing Flies
- Fluxweed Stem
- Dugbog Tongue
Lacewing Flies are typically located in the wild amid glowing bushes. After purchasing Fluxweed Seeds from The Magic Neep, Fluxweed Stems can be cultivated in Large Pots. Dugbog Tongues can be acquired by defeating Dugbog foes like the Cottongrass Dugbog.
- Go to a Potions Station. Potions Stations can be found in the Potions Classroom at Hogwarts, the Room of Requirement, and other locations around Hogwarts.
- Start brewing the potion. Once at a Potions Station, select the Focus Potion preparation and add the necessary ingredients to the cauldron.
- Stir the potion. After adding the ingredients to the cauldron, you must agitate the potion for a few seconds.
- Wait for the potion to brew. It will take a few seconds for the potion to prepare. Once fermentation is complete, you will be able to collect it.
- Drink the potion. To consume the potion, select it using the tool wheel and then press the button.
For a brief duration, the Focus Potion will reduce the recharge time of your spells. If you need to cast spells more frequently in combat, this is an excellent potion to use.
Tips on gathering ingredients for Focus Potion Hogwarts Legacy
Focus is made from a mix of Lacewing flies often found around Hogwarts. The roots of Fluxweed are grown in big pots. Next, the item is more challenging to find Dugbog Tongues.

Dugbogs are mid- to high-level enemies in this game, so it can take a lot of work to get a steady supply of their tongues early on. They are also inexpensive at J. Pippin, costing each one hundred Galleons.

Here are a few suggestions for preparing Focus Potions:
- Lacewing Flies can be found in the following locations:
- The Forbidden Forest
- The Hogsmeade Woods
- The Shrieking Shack
- Fluxweed Stem can be found in the following areas:
- The Forbidden Forest
- The Hogsmeade Woods
- The Shrieking Shack
- Dugbog Tongues can be found in the following areas:
- The Forbidden Forest
- The Hogsmeade Woods
- The Shrieking Shack
- Lacewing Flies, Fluxweed Stem, and Dugbog Tongues are available at J. Pippin’s Potions in Hogsmeade.
- You can create multiple Focus Potions simultaneously.
- Focus Potions can be stored in your inventory.
More Tips on Focus
Again, this is annoying because as we get further into the game, we can quickly switch between our many spells, and cooldowns are less of a problem.
Still, I’ve found this one way useful for helping players who use strong spell combinations. Suppose you like spamming Levioso, Descendo, or Accio Incendio. In that case, you can do it more often if you drink a Focus potion.
Even though it’s clear, the best thing about this is that Avada Kedavra will be used more often. It has a strong Talent upgrade that helps people who use spells with slots every time they cast a spell from the slot list. Below is a list of all the skills that can be used in battle.

The length of the Focus impact will increase. Not enough to keep the effect going forever, but enough to get a few more seconds out of it.

At least, it’s a self-perpetuating cycle. The more spells we cast in a given amount of time, the more time we have to cast more spells, which, in turn, makes it take longer to cast more spells, which, well, you get the idea.
4. Maxima Potion
What’s better than letting us cast more spells? The Maxima potion is a quick 30-second Brewer that doubles our power for 20 seconds.

It also strengthens some skills so they can be used against higher-level enemies. For example, my level 34 Gryffindor usually needs help to use Transfiguration on level 34 poachers. But they can now use Transfiguration with a Maxima potion.
How to make Maxima Potion in Hogwarts Legacy
The formula for the Maxima Potion in Hogwarts Legacy goes as follows:

- Gather the ingredients. To create a Maxima Potion, you will need the following:
- Leech Juice
- Spider Fang
Leech Juice is a natural substance that grows freely in the wild, frequently in or near water. In order to earn Spider Fangs, one must first defeat spiders.
- Go to a Potions Station. Potions Stations can be found in several locations around Hogwarts, including the Potion Classroom at Hogwarts and the Room of Requirement.
- Start brewing the potion. To make a Maxima Potion, go to a Potions Station, choose the recipe, and then put the required items into the brew.
- Stir the potion. You’ll need to give the potion a quick swirl after adding all the components to the cauldron.
- Wait for the potion to brew. A few seconds are needed to brew the potion. You can have it when it’s done brewing and drinking.
- Drink the potion. Select the desired potion from the selector wheel, then push the button to consume it.
The Maxima Potion provides a temporary boost to damage dealt. If you’re in a fight and need to deal extra damage, this potion is for you.
Tips on gathering ingredients for Maxima Potion Hogwarts Legacy
With just Spider Fangs and Leech Juice, making a Maxima potion is very simple. If you’ve played this game, you know that there are a lot of spiders, which is pretty normal.

You can find Leech Juice along the shores. The Black Lake in Lower Hogsfield is a good place to look for them early on.

These are some Maxima Potion-Making Hints:
- Leech Juice can be found at the following establishments:
- The Forbidden Forest
- The Hogsmeade Woods
- The Shrieking Shack
- The following places are good places to look for Spider Fangs:
- The Forbidden Forest
- The Hogsmeade Woods
- The Shrieking Shack
- J. Pippin’s Potions is a shop in Hogsmeade where you may get potions like Leech Juice and Spider Fangs.
- The Maxima Potion brewing process is parallelized.
- Maxima Potions can be kept in your stockpile.
More Tips on Maxima
Upgrading Maxima is also very helpful. We can now do three times our base damage instead of two and use any spell on any color Shield. We can use the spell; red on a yellow, yellow on a purple, or a basic cast to fire through.

It’s such a powerful potion that combining it with Focus lets you cast your most powerful magic non-stop. Also, there is nothing that can be done to stop them.
3. Thunderbrew Potion
We now have a potion that can do all your work for you. Thunderbrew makes a storm cloud above your head that fires strong, damaging lightning bolts at enemies around you.
This can reduce the number of enemies around you, stop them from casting spells, or whole clear waves of enemies in seconds, like this pack of wolves, in places like fight arenas.

The action lasts for 30 seconds, which is enough time to clear a small or medium camp. Still, once you’ve played for a while, you’ll always have the things you need for this one.
How to make Thunderbrew Potion in Hogwarts Legacy
The following are the steps for making Thunderbrew Potion in Hogwarts Legacy:

- Gather the ingredients. To prepare a Thunderbrew Potion, you’ll need three ingredients:
- Leech Juice
- Shrivelfig Fruit
- Stench of the Dead
Leech Juice is found in nature, usually around bodies of water. Shrivelfig Fruit is available from The Magic Neep in Hogsmeade. The Stench of the Dead can be acquired from J. Pippin’s Potions, which sells the potion recipe.
- Go to a Potions Station. Potions Stations can be found in the Potion Classroom at Hogwarts, the Room of Requirement, and various other locations around Hogwarts.
- Start brewing the potion. Select the Thunderbrew Potion recipe at a Potions Station, then add the ingredients to the cauldron.
- Stir the potion. Mix the potion for a few seconds after adding the components to the cauldron.
- Wait for the potion to brew. It will take a few seconds for the potion to brew. You will be able to collect it once it has completed brewing.
- Drink the potion. To consume the potion, select it from the tool wheel and then press the button to consume it.
The Thunderbrew Potion will cause a rainstorm on the battlefield, dealing damage and stun to all adjacent opponents over time. It is a perfect potion to employ in battle if you need to do a large amount of damage to a large number of enemies.
Tips on gathering ingredients for Thunderbrew Potion Hogwarts Legacy
Every item for Thunderbew is available in Hogwarts Legacy. The same is true for Leech Juice. You will find them all over the beaches.

Shrivelfigs can be grown, and Inferi will drop the smell of the Dead, which happens more often as time passes.

Here are some pointers on how to make Thunderbrew Potions:
- Leech Juice can be found at the following locations:
- The Forbidden Forest
- The Hogsmeade Woods
- The Shrieking Shack
- Shrivelfig Fruit can be found in the following locations:

- You can create numerous Thunderbrew Potions at the same time.
- Thunderbrew Potions can be kept in your inventory.
More Tips on Thunderbrew
The upgrade to the ability doesn’t change anything. Still, I think the added damage is worth it, especially because of the range that turns this from a nice Close Quarters support buff to a real-life God of Thunder.

Did I mention that there is no limit to how many lightning bolts can be fired at once? This means that the DPS of this effect will be higher the more enemies are in the radius of the storm clouds.
2. Wiggenweld Potion
Now we’ll talk about a potion with a huge edge over the rest. I thought about how to put this one in, but alas, Wiggenweld, which we all know and love, is our healing potion.

It has its own place in your inventory and can be made better by two core skills. Getting the talents will let you set a lot more Health to be recovered with each Wiggenweld.
How to make Wiggenweld Potion in Hogwarts Legacy
In Hogwarts Legacy, here are the steps for making Wiggenweld Potion:

- Gather the ingredients. In order to make a Wiggenweld Potion, you will need two things:
- Horklump Juice
- Dittany Leaves
You can find Horklump Juice in the wild, usually near bogs and swamps. You can get Dittany Leaves from Dittany plants by cutting them off.
- Go to a Potions Station. Potions Stations can be found in the Potions Classroom at Hogwarts, in the Room of Requirements, and in a few other places.
- Start brewing the potion. Once you are at a Potions Station, choose the Wiggenweld Potion recipe and add the items to the cauldron.
- Stir the potion. Once all the ingredients are in the cauldron, you must stir the mixture for a few seconds.
- Wait for the potion to brew. The potion will be ready in a few seconds. When it’s done making, you’ll be able to take it.
- Drink the potion. Choose a potion from the tool wheel and then press the button to drink it.
A lot of health recovery from the Wiggenweld Potion. If you get hurt in a fight, this is a great potion to have on hand.

But making them is so easy that you could save your skill points and make a lot more potions. They need Horklump Juice, which is easy to find on every cave trip. The room of need can be used to grow Dittany flowers.

Brew also takes 15 seconds, so you could go around in a circle of potion stands and never have to wait. Now, it goes without saying that this is an important part of the game, and the more tough the game is, the more important it is.

Here are some tips for making Wiggenweld Potions:
- Horklump Juice can be found in the following places:
- The Forbidden Forest
- The Hogsmeade Woods
- The Shrieking Shack
- Dittany Leaves can be found in the following locations:
- The Forbidden Forest
- The Hogsmeade Woods
- The Shrieking Shack
- Horklump Juice and Dittany Leaves can also be bought at J. Pippin’s Potions in Hogsmeade.
- You can make more than one Wiggenweld Potion at the same time.
- Wiggenweld Potions can be kept in your purse.
More Tips on Wiggenweld
I bet some good people never have to take this because they never get hit. But for most of us non-magical people, this is our actual Lifesaver. It’s a second chance and a way to make sure fights don’t happen.
When a boss fight is coming up, it’s a good sign if there’s a very clear stash of Wiggenweld nearby. Honestly, it’s not fair to put this one so high up. If you want to leave it off the list because it’s too different, I don’t blame you, but it’s still a very good potion.
1. Edurus Potion
But do you know what’s better than healing when you’ve been hit? Well, why not just avoid getting hit in the first place?
Edurus gives you a brief rocky skin for 20 seconds that makes you immune to damage. How much damage? Well, that depends on whether or not you have upgraded it.
Let’s start with the most basic way to measure the life bar below as it goes down. After this, Inferius hits me. Edurus seems to stop half of the damage, so we only lose half as much health. That’s helpful, but more is needed to move this drink down the list.

Let’s make it better with the Talent. This Talent is not only the first in the room of the requirement tree but also one of the best in the game.
With Edurus, we can no longer be hit in any way. Even a Troll can’t hurt us right now, and we can still do as much damage as we want. This is one of the best things you can do in a tough spot.

But you don’t just block magic; you can also turn them away. Yes, you can be a reflecting tool just by standing there. Your enemies can kill themselves with spells that bounce back at them. Everyone is fighting everyone else, but no one can hurt you.

How to make Edurus Potion in Hogwarts Legacy
In Hogwarts Legacy, here are the steps on how to make Edurus Potion:

- Gather the ingredients. In order to make an Edurus Potion, you will need two things:
- Ashwinder Eggs
- Mongrel Fur
You can find Ashwinder Eggs in the wild, usually near rocky cliffs. You can get Mongrel Fur by beating Dark Mongrels.
- Go to a Potions Station. Potions Stations can be found in the Potions Classroom at Hogwarts, Room of Requirements, and a few other places.
- Start brewing the potion. Once you’re at a Potions Station, choose the Edurus Potion recipe and add the contents to the cauldron.
The Edurus Potion will boost your defense for 20 seconds. This will make you less likely to get hurt. Using the potion in a fight is a great way to protect yourself.
Tips on gathering ingredients for Edurus Potion Hogwarts Legacy
It’s pretty cool, but to keep making it, you need two things. The first is Mongrel Fur, which is easy to find. Kill every pack of wolves you see, or fight them when fighting hunters.

Then there are Ashwinder Eggs, which I have often found on Rocky hillsides or near old campfires. Once you have a broom, it’s also easy to get. Trust me, you’ll want a lot of these.

Here are some tips for making potions with Edurus:
- Ashwinder Eggs can be found in the following places:
- The Forbidden Forest
- The Hogsmeade Woods
- The Shrieking Shack
- Mongrel Fur can be found in the following locations:
- The Forbidden Forest
- The Hogsmeade Woods
- The Shrieking Shack
- Ashwinder Eggs and Mongrel Fur can also be bought at J. Pippin’s Potions in Hogsmeade.
- You can make more than one Edurus Potion at the same time.
- Your stash can hold Edurus Potions.
More Tips on Edurus
Because, as I said, the best thing to do in a tight spot is to drink an improved Edurus. It’s better than being invisible and even a little less useful than Wiggenweld. Edurus is at the top of my list because he has a skill so strong that it is ridiculous.
Some Brewing Tips for Everybody
If you have read till now, how can I let you go empty-handed? Here are some brewing tips that will upscale your Hogwarts experience.
- You can put chopping stations in the Room of Requirement, which will give you a random element occasionally. This is especially nice for rare ones like Troll Bogeys and Dugbog Tongues, but you can’t count on it for a steady supply.
- Hopping Pots can be said to be the same. You can also put them in the Room of Requirement. But making odd potions for you is a great way to get extra stock.
- But if you want a lot of a certain type of potion, you’ll still need to make them because we can only have three Hopping Pots, and each one takes 12 minutes to make a potion.

As Hogwarts Legacy is out for everyone, I recommend you play this game. Even if you are not a fan of the Harry Potter series, I vouch that you will have a great time with Hogwarts Legacy.
