What is the Season of Savathun?
Developers plan to release Season 22 of Destiny 2 around the end of August 2023. Although they haven’t officially announced the title of the season yet, we can consider it as THE SEASON OF SAVATHUN. Towards the end of the “Season of Deep”, we strongly suggested reviving our temporarily-dead ex-rival, Savathun, to pass through the portal and track down the witness. Early previews of the Final Shape show that Ikora finds Cayde-6 by getting through the portal!

Leaks
Predictions for Season 22 feature Eris and Crow as the main event vendors. We’ll watch them collect illusion ghosts. Additionally, they will aid us in locating Immaru. However, it turns out that Xivu Arath has ordered Immaru to be locked up in a scorned prison.
So, in this season, players will rescue Immaru to win his trust. And with this trust, they will be able to resurrect Savathun. Crow plays a pivotal role in Season 22, given his past experiences when Aldrin was resurrected at the start of The Season of The Hunt. Additionally, there will be a recap of the events of Forsaken, which is crucial for Cayde’s return in Final Shape.

Exotic Mission Rotator
Over the years Bungie has had some epic exotic missions and this would be one home where we can go back and run some best including Passage Box Obscura and Operation: Seraph’s Shield. Along with that, Bungie will also continue to create new missions throughout the year and as they do that, they will be added to the mission rotator.
Implementing this new framework, Bungie is hoping to bring back some of Destiny’s most iconic missions such as The Whisper and The Zero-Hour Mission. Unfortunately, missions will not form part of Season 22. With that being said, with the new Rotator in effect, exotic missions from the past will be featured that will rotate weekly and offer great rewards for players willing to dive into some classic content.
Rewards
The new Season will have a massive number of changes to the rewards that players will earn by completing ritual activities including Strikes, Crucible, and Gambit. Bungie has been examining all the players’ feedback in order to adjust drops and, as well as adding new weapons to certain activities that sometimes feel inconsistent.
Weapons in The Season of Savathun
Some new weapons will be added to the ritual vendors in Season 22, Season of Savathun.
- Crucible
- Unending Tempest – Stasis Submachine gun
- Strikes
- Luna Regolith III – Solar Sniper Rifle
- Gambit
- Qua Xaphan V – Void Machine Gun
- Iron Banner
- The Guiding Sight – Strand Scout Rifle
- Point of the Stag – Arc Bow
- Trails of Osiris
- Igneous Hammer – Solar Hand Cannon
- Cataphract GL3 – Strand Heavy Grenade Launcher
As for Nightfall exclusive rewards, we will see;
- Warden’s Law (Kinetic Hand Canon)
- Pre Astyanax IV (Solar Precise Bow)
Season 22 will also be starring a brand-new archetype with the return of The Warden’s Law.
With that being said, if we have a new archetype, we could quite possibly see other weapons in the same mould either as Rich weapons or maybe as Exotics for the season.
Sandbox Changes
Season 22 will have a substantial shake-up coming to weapons. Bungie has provided a list of old base zoom with and without rangefinder, as well as the new base ads modifiers. These changes will affect most weapons in the game, primarily improving the base zoom and decreasing the upper range cap when they include the rangefinder.
In addition to these changes, developers will buff Hand Cannons to improve their usefulness and utility. This will include improvement to their base reload time, as well as increasing their damage against minor and major combatants. Developers will also substantially rework swords, and Bungie plans to implement some changes to bows. These changes will enhance the way reload perks affect them and how their shots register at longer ranges.
Economy Changes in The Season of Sava
Bungie has made some economic changes to help alleviate some issues when it comes to losing items in a postmaster. That is why in Season 22, Season of Savathun, Bungie will be tripling the caps for things like Ascendant Shards and Alloys and doubling the cap for enhancement prisms.
Item | Old Cap | New Cap |
Ascendant Shards | 10 | 30 |
Ascendant Alloys | 10 | 30 |
Enhancement Prisms | 50 | 100 |
With these new Caps in place, these items will no longer have the ability to go to the Postmaster so, if the player has full stacks of the mentioned items in their inventory, they will behave just like glimmer. Now you will not receive any additional rewards like those unless you find yourself below the cap. The new currency won’t find itself in the postmaster anymore, and Bungie has made it clear that any that are currently in the postmaster, will remain there until the players claim them.
Conclusion
One way or another, these were some much-needed changes that players and the community will welcome going into the new Season. You can see the main build-up towards the narrative for the Final Shape in this season. The game’s plot might take a big leap if Savathun gets resurrected; it needs to get back on track before The Final Shape.
The exotics missions and sandbox changes will also meet the community’s expectations to some extent, as Bungie has been receiving quite a lot of negative feedback from the players lately. Overall, we can be optimistic about The Season of Savathun as this will lead us toward the final Chapter – Light versus Darkness Saga.
